An important pair of 18th-century Mexican Colonial armchairs (jamugas), exquisitely crafted from silver, silk, and red velvet. These chairs showcase pushed silver ornamentation, a testament to the fine craftsmanship of Mexican silversmiths, influenced by Spanish colonial design. The seat cushions are adorned with gold-thread embroidery and metal sequins, likely made of gilded silver. Despite minor wear consistent with age, they remain in excellent condition. These chairs were a custom-made commission for a distinguished individual of the era.Dimensions: 110 × 70 × 50 cm (seat height: 52 cm).Provenance: 18th-century Mexico.
