Magnificent, highly ornamented, multi-compartment reliquary, probably from the 18th or early 19th century. This Catholic reliquary frame containing 30 relics of saints is presented in a beautiful ornamental arrangement typical of Baroque reliquaries. Description of the relics: It shows three main sections: Central section (round) It shows the relics of: St. Ignatius of Loyola - St. Francis Xavier - St. Augustine - St. Maurice - St. Nicholas - St. Thomas, ep. - St. Benedict, ab. - St. Faustin - St. Felix, m. - St. Theodora, m. In the center the Holy Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ (True Cross) Left section (oval) This part is more difficult to read but we can distinguish: St. of Loretto (Most likely a relic associated with the Holy House of Loreto) - St. Victoris m. (Saint Victor, martyr). - S. Vincentii – Saint Vincent (possibly Vincent of Saragossa, martyr).- S. Laurentii m. (Saint Lawrence, martyr) -S. Antonii – Saint Anthony (possibly Anthony of Padua or Anthony the Great) -S. Stephani (Saint Stephen, first Christian martyr) - S. Martialis (Saint Martial, bishop and evangelizer). Right section (oval) It reads: S. Clement (Most likely Saint Clement I, pope and martyr) - S. Placidus (Saint Placid, disciple of Saint Benedict.) - S. Justinae (Saint Justina, virgin and martyr (often associated with Placid). - S. Praxedis (Saint Praxedes, Roman virgin) - S. Cyrilli (Saint Cyril perhaps Cyril of Alexandria or Cyril of Jerusalem). - S. Perpetuae (Saint Perpetua, Carthaginian martyr) Decoration and symbolism: The golden ornaments represent Eucharistic motifs: bunches of grapes, ears of wheat, palms of martyrdom, celestial stars, etc. The pinkish-purple background is typical of the Baroque period, used to highlight the sacred elements.
