Object description :

" Tapestry Fragment, Verdure With Monkeys, Brussels Workshop, Mid-16th Century"
- Fragment of a tapestry, weaving from a Brussels workshop around the middle of the 16th century.

This weaving depicts a landscape with abundant vegetation and is similar to a Verdure. Among the ferns, plants with red berries and other vegetation, two monkeys seem to be conversing together. - This fragment is similar to the production of Brussels workshops from the middle of the 16th century. This is evidenced by the theme, the careful design, the beautiful fineness of the weaving (7 threads/cm) which offers a supple textile, the materials used (wool and silk) and the colors whose freshness suggests the use of great dyes.

- Condition: some losses and wear are to be noted (see photos).

- Dimensions: Height: 39 cm, Width: 116 cm
