On the front is inscribed "+ than yesterday and - than tomorrow".
This expression, well known to romantic lovers, is one of the lines in the poem by Rosemonde Gérard to her husband Edmond Rostand.
It was made famous by Alphonse Augis, a jeweler from Lyon who, in 1907, had the idea of creating a medal on which this line was engraved.
This phrase has since become a very strong symbol.
