It was there that he met Camille Pissarro for the first time. He became friends with Butler and met Claude Monet who regularly invited him to Giverny. Louvrier was alongside Dumont and Pinchon in his first exhibitions of "modern" painting in Rouen which were inaugurated by Guillaume Apollinaire.
