Oil on cardboard "Bab Guissa in Fez" signed and dated lower right Hannaux 44. Countersigned, titled, dated and located on the back of the cardboard Paul Hannaux "Bab Guissa in Fez". April 1944 (date to be confirmed). French school. 70 X 98.5 cm. Paul Hannaux (1897-1954) was a student of Ernest Joseph Laurent (1859-1929). He was a travel grant holder in Spain in 1924, then a resident of the Casa Velasquez in Madrid. He participated in the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Tuileries. Bab Guissa is a fortified gate, built in the 11th century and located northwest of the city of Fez in Morocco. The frame is made of painted and patinated wood from the period. Good condition.
