Beautiful oval miniature, painted from gouache, revealing the full-length portrait and costume of a superb young woman in her Sunday best with a large straw hat, proudly carrying her harvest to market: a marvel of spring mushrooms.
A seductive encounter, between folk art and elegance.
The oval miniature of 8cm x 6cm is finely painted, it has a small crack on edge, only visible on back.
Below, the original foil, silver-plated copper foil, which served to enhance the complexion of her beauty. Blown glass is original, like polished brass frame, with bail, which has the flaw of having the teeth quite worn on back and scratches above.
A beautiful miniature circa 1840, without signature, French school like the beautiful tricolor.
