Remarkable chiseling work for these large, unusual objects.
They have the particularity of being hallmarked several times with the crowned "C".
An edict of 1745 required bronze makers to stamp their works with a small distinctive letter, a C surmounted by a crown, thus subjecting them to the payment of a tax. This applied to both objects and furniture adorned with it.
The use of the crowned C extended from 1745 to 1749.
We are therefore certain that these candlesticks were made during this period.
Our highly decorative objects are in very good house condition.
The original silver plating is still present, although it has worn off some of the reliefs.
The candle spike was formerly threaded to most likely attach a socket to transform them into a lamp.
We offer these candle spikes in their original condition.
Louis XV period, between 1745 and 1749.
