"Tortoiseshell Box Decorated With A Miniature, 19th Century"
Round tortoiseshell box from the 19th century. The lid is decorated with a miniature surrounded by a gold 9K frieze representing a young woman in a white dress wearing a coral necklace with matching earrings, half-length and three-quarters. She wears a bun and on her forehead are distributed locks in the form of commas, fashionable at the beginning of the century. Good condition overall; note, however, a few small cracks in the tortoiseshell, not through and barely visible, on the bottom of the inside of the box and on its height. D: 8cm H: 2.5cm
