The recorder received the Morse signal from the transmitter station.
The current passing through the coils of the recorder generated a phenomenon of electromagnetic attraction and was connected to an ink pen.
The paper strip was sliding at a constant speed guided by a spring mechanism.
This system made it possible to print on paper the message received as proof of receipt.
This recorder is one of the first models used in the post offices of the Kingdom of Italy.
The two initials R.R. engraved on the base indicate that it is an instrument belonging to "Regie Poste Italiane".
The recorder is made of brass and rests on an oak base. Late 1800s.
Built by "Officina elettrica Fratelli Gerosa di Milano".
