"Bronze Sculpture Signed Debut "the Arab Water Carrier""
Large Orientalist Sculpture by Marcel DEBUT "The "Arab Water Carrier" model designed around 1892. Represents a man walking and carrying a jug on his shoulder with a stick. Very finely chiseled and skillfully patinated with warm tones and different patinas that match wonderfully with the colors of the copper jug. Cast iron old edition late 19th century perfect condition (the steel clamp probably replaced by a brass clamp). Signed on the terrace DEBUT and bears the inscription of the Foundryman Charles Gautier. Listed in the KJELLBERG PAGE 266 Height 61 cm weight 13 kg Marcel Début 1st Prix de Rome was born in 1865, son of the famous sculptor Jean Didier Début (1824-1893). He followed the courses of Marcel-Henri HENRY at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Member of the Society of French Artists, he received an honorable mention in 1895. He exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1883.
