In 1879, the founder's two sons, Louis-Paul and César Brandt, decided to launch into industrial manufacturing "American style". They settled permanently in Bienne in the canton of Bern. Before the end of the decade, the company became the largest in Swiss watchmaking. Due to its seniority, longevity, visibility (sports timekeeping, space exploration) and size2, Omega is one of the leading companies in the Swiss watchmaking industry. It was indeed a pioneer in the industrialization of production (mechanization, mass production).
