"Austro-hungarian Pendant Silver, Enamels, Cameo 19th Century"
This large pendant features an oval shell cameo depicting a helmeted warrior in profile. The engraver has used more colorful layers to detail the clothing and helmet. The cameo is surrounded by an oval frame decorated with a garland of leaves in green enamel, framed by a lively and pierced silver mount enameled in several colors. On this mount, four raised box settings are adorned with rubies and garnets.
The back of the mount is also highly decorated and adorned with enamel. Bow motif bail set with half pearls and two rhinestones, one on pink paillon the other colorless.
Silver tested with a touchstone, only the bail bears unidentified hallmarks. Face and back of the mount carefully reattached.
Excellent condition for this spectacular piece! Austro-Hungarian origin certainly from Vienna, 19th century period circa 1860. Dimensions 8.4cm x 6.3cm.
