What is a Hand-Tufted Rug?
Supple, soft, and perfectly suited to contemporary designs, the hand-tufted rug, also called Hand-Tuft or Asian Point, has become a benchmark in the world of designer rugs.
This technique offers the artisan upholsterer great freedom in its creation. Tufting is a process that uses artisanal manufacturing methods, ancestral know-how developed mainly in India and China, and modern weaving tools.
Weaving is done by hand, with the artisan inserting the strands of textile directly into a cotton canvas stretched over a vertical loom. Tufting is done using a strand gun, following the product's colors, design, and varying strand heights.
The tufting technique allows for the creation of high-quality products and allows for all sorts of eccentricities! Shapes, colors, designs, and textures—everything is possible, with exceptional results. For example, rugs can be carved. The fiber is then implanted at the maximum height of the relief and then sculpted using scissors and razors. This method is also called "carving." Carved rugs are truly exceptional pieces and highly prized for their particularly luxurious finished appearance.
The wool used is a synthetic acrylic wool, strong and soft.
