Polish Bed With Dome Canopy, Louis XVI Period.

This sumptuous bed dating from the beginning of the Louis XVI period is an element of great decorations but it is also a collector's item, retaining all of its period structure, the canopy with its superb dome shape is the one that was born with the bed, as are the wrought iron support bars and the 5 plumes that crown the dome. Built in oak it is molded and carved, the two bedside tables of identical height have their upper crosspieces cut in the shape of a donkey's back, this still Louis XV shape receives on either side fluted columns resting on tapered fluted legs. The canopy dressed in fabric leaves no visible wood, it receives 4 plumes positioned as a pendant and a fifth plume at its top, of beautiful dimensions, these turned and carved pieces are removable and luckily they have been preserved until us for our greatest pleasure. The wrought iron curtain rods are also the original ones, they are attached to the wood by threads held by butterflies, they are therefore all removable. The wood has been restored, allowing this bed to be used, the lag screws which hold the crosspieces to the bedside tables are those of the period, they work perfectly. The fabrics have been entirely redone with a model made from archive documents, published by the Casal house in its heritage collection, the trimmings including braids and pompoms are also new, the mattress was made to measure and rests on a perfectly stable removable board ensuring solidity and comfort. The Polish dome bed models are among the most beautiful and spectacular, ensuring you an exceptional decoration with an authentic product of the 18th century.
