"Pair Of Neoclassical Gilt Bronze Vases By F. Levillain & F. Barbedienne – 19th Century"
Rare pair of bronze amphora vases with a gilded patina, mounted on tripod bases in red griotte marble. Each vase features rich relief ornamentation of scenes inspired by antiquity: mythological figures, symbolic attributes, columns, garlands and stylized trees, executed with remarkable finesse. The tripod bases are composed of figures of winged lions with human heads, typical of the neoclassical repertoire, giving the whole a great sculptural presence. The vases bear the signature of the sculptor F. Levillain, as well as the stamp of the prestigious foundry F. Barbedienne, Paris, guarantor of the excellence of 19th-century French art casting. This work perfectly illustrates the 19th-century taste for Antiquity and works inspired by Greece and Rome, in a luxurious and very careful decorative interpretation. Total height: 30 cm A high-quality collector's item, ideal for enriching a refined interior or a decorative art collection.
