"Charles X Curtain In Cherry And Gold Damask - France Circa 1825"
Circa 1825France LyonMajestic curtain, canopy slope in Cherry silk damask from the Charles X period. Unidentified Lyon manufacturer. The background in very fine silk damask taffeta background, is inspired by a large French cabbage leaf decoration from the 17th century. The applied borders in red and gold twill woven silk, remind us of the influence that Napoleon I exerted on the decorative arts of the Restoration period. The braid of passementerie and the linings are period hand-assembled. No defects to note and to reuse for any historical decoration project. Very good condition of color and conservation.Dimensions: approximately 216 cm high by 160 cm wide at the lowest An alcove bedspread from the same set is for sale separately.
