"Imposing Italian Tabernacle Facade - 18th Century "
Our wooden tabernacle is beautifully decorated with a vivid polychromy in blue and white, enhanced by numerous gold leaf gildings. The whole is adorned with six Corinthian columns with twisted shafts, plant motifs and a sculpted pediment displaying a radiant angel's head.
The door, the logically central element of the Holy of Holies, is covered with an oil-painted panel of Christ in Glory carrying his Cross.
Important dimensions of 99 cm high by 81 cm wide.
Dimensions of the door alone of 30 cm by 14.5 cm.
An Italian work from the late 17th or early 18th century.
Very good condition - note that the door device has been removed and that the door is now fixed.
