Helen Mai, pseudonym of Jeanne Lartigue. (1903-1994). Abstract and cubist painter, designer and sculptor. Multi-talented artist and relative of the photographer Jacques Henri Lartigue. Created numerous pieces, mosaics and enamels as well as models for the decorative arts. Exhibited at the Salon d'Automne and the Lucy Krogh Gallery. Practiced encaust painting, she rediscovered this painting by using a hot iron instead of a brush to apply a colored wax and fix it on the support. Size 34 x 26 cm without frame. On panel, signed lower center and verso.
