Georges Lacombe was a French painter and sculptor, an important member of the Nabis group, where he was nicknamed "the Nabi sculptor". Trained at the Académie Julian in Paris, he was strongly influenced by Paul Gauguin and the Pont-Aven period. His work is characterized by a synthetic style and refined compositions, reflecting the aesthetic of the Nabis. Brittany, where he stayed regularly, was a major source of inspiration in his work, as evidenced by this study drawing staged as a moment of rural life in a sketch of a Breton landscape.
