"18th Century Iron"
Iron from the late 18th century. Post-Revolutionary period (1789-/1799). It could have been made later. Ember iron called boat due to its shape. The ventilation is unilateral, ensured by a frieze of Phrygian caps allowing its dating. The whole is made of wrought iron, the turned wooden handle is original. The closure is ensured by a spring hook. Classically, the closure was made with a rotating hook + ring. It is in a used condition. Numerous lacks of material around the edge. It has suffered from numerous exposures to heat which would try to prove that it has been well used (holes and corrosion in contact with the embers). See photos of details.
