"15th Century French Limestone Faceless Head"
An incredible 15th-century Gothic limestone head, the face of which is perfectly patinated—or rather, absent. Slight features can still be seen around the eyes and mouth, but the magnificent flowing hair surrounding the face is more evident. An elegant yet raw sculpture, clearly a masterpiece, but time has eroded the work to a characterful, almost haunting presence. Presented on a contemporary iron and wood base.
