"Double Pencil Holder, Canivet?, 18th Century"
Double pencil holder and pencil holder made of brass and steel, probably French, dating from around 1770-1780. Good instrument, beautifully made, faceted with eight sides. Inside the central part, a very small pencil holder is hidden under the large pencil holder; under the opposite part, that is to say under the ink point, a brass point called a priquoir. An instrument of quite similar manufacture is found in a large mathematics box by Canivet preserved by the Louvre. We can possibly attribute the manufacture of this double pencil holder and pencil holder to this manufacturer, active during the years 1760-1780. 16cm in length.
