Lorenzo Delleani's painting “Vespertine Lights and Shadows,” made in oil on panel, depicts an evocative sunset over Lake Sirius.
Description of the work
The dimensions of the painting are 45 x 31 cm, and the date, given at lower right, is November 27, 1898. The work masterfully captures the contrast between the golden light of the sunset, which illuminates the clouds, and the shadows that envelop the vegetation and the surface of the lake.
Delleani uses soft, mellow brushstrokes to make the sky glow, with clouds in warm shades of yellow and orange reflecting the sun's last glow. In contrast, the lower part of the painting is dominated by darker, deeper tones, suggesting the stillness of the evening. The golden reflection on the water adds a poetic touch to the composition.
Authenticity and provenance
On the back of the painting is an authentication stamp and signature of Leonardo Bistofi. In addition, the work is accompanied by an authentication on photograph issued by Angelo Dragone dated March 21, 1983.
This work is a magnificent example of Delleani's ability to capture the light and atmosphere of nature, making it a piece of great artistic and collector's value.
