Takouba sword - Southern Algeria, Mali, circa 1900 Leather-covered steel hilt and guard. Steel pommel topped with a pyramidal pile of brass and copper elements. Locally forged blade, straight with double edges and five fullers on the first quarter. Fairly good quality blade for a local blade. Leather scabbard with two suspension straps. As is often the case, the blade does not fit completely into its scabbard. Damage to the scabbard's rivet.
