An object of great decoration, this large carved and painted wooden eagle with half-spread wings is originally a lectern eagle, a notch on the back of the animal's tail indicates the location of the old support for placing biblical works. Work of fine quality dating from the 18th century, the body of the eagle is composed of several pieces of wood, assembled with visible dowels, the wings are assembled with mortise and tenon joints, we note an old restoration on the right wing as well as a small lack on the same wing. It seems that originally this eagle was polychromed with green plumage. The sculpture rests on a carved and gilded wooden base, surely a baroque style candlestick base also dating from the 18th century, with so-called Mecca gilding.
