Brass Offering Dish Baptism Jesus. Germany Nuremberg, Flanders 17th century. Embossed brass dish representing the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan by St. John the Baptist. St. John the Baptist carries a cross in his left hand and places his right on the head of Jesus who is kneeling at his feet. The Jordan is symbolized by small waves at the feet of Jesus. St. John the Baptist rests on a mound. All in an environment of foliage or scrolls. The scrolls are repeated on the rim. The bottom of the dish is slightly domed. In very good condition. Two small posterior holes for hanging presentation should be noted, as well as the affixing of a ring on the back.
