Pn Sommé: Sugar Spoon, Solid Silver, 18th Century. Farmers General Hallmarks

Beautiful 18th century solid silver spoon and shaker. The shaker is threaded, and the spoon is richly and finely pierced with geometric motifs forming arabesques.

The spoon bears numerous hallmarks:
. Silversmith's mark: PNS with a hand holding a laurel leaf for Pierre-Nicolas Sommé, received as a master in 1760, with this new mark issued in 1768.
. Jurande mark: date letter P for the year 1788.
. Paris charge mark for the period 1782-1789: a crowned A.
. Discharge mark: a parrot's head.
. Countermark mark: a fly.

A very beautiful spoon in beautiful condition with a fine repierce. Its weight is slightly above average for this cutlery, a sign of quality workmanship.
