Large bronze depicting a military rider, likely a knight setting out for a joust or Crusade. The horse rearing on its hind legs, the rich details of the horse's harness, and the finesse in the depiction of the armor contribute to making this sculpture quite seductive. The statue rests on a bronze platform, itself fixed to a black marble base. Beautiful 19th-century sculpture, at the crossroads of the "neo-Gothic" or "Troubadour" and "neo-Renaissance" styles. Note: wear to the bronze patina, small accidents to the marble base.
