Object description :

"Daum Cross Of Lorraine Nancy Bowl "
About Daum Founded in 1878 in Nancy, Lorraine, Cristallerie Daum is the fruit of the work of Jean Daum. It saw the emergence of great Art Nouveau talents, including Jacques Grüber, Henri Bergé, Almaric Walter, and the Schneider brothers. The period from 1939 to 1968 marked an important transition for the manufacturer. After World War II, due to shortages of pigments needed to make glass paste, crystal became the leading material under the leadership of Henri and Michel Daum. The company then diversified its production by offering refined pieces such as champagne flutes, liqueur glasses, ice buckets, and other fine glassware. His artistic approach is based on inspiration drawn from nature, without being a strict imitation of it. Antoine Froissart (1920-1971), a descendant of Antonin Daum and an engineer at the École Centrale Paris, played a key role in the evolution of crystal making by developing an exceptionally transparent and luminous crystal. This innovative material allowed the creation of pieces with shapes that were both thick and fluid. In 1965, Jacques Daum, grandson of Auguste Daum, injected a contemporary dynamic by collaborating with renowned artists such as Salvador Dalí and César, who came to Nancy to experiment with new forms of expression around crystal.
