"Saint Jacques De Compostelle Ivory Statuette, 18th Century"
Finely carved ivory statuette, representing Saint James the Greater as a pilgrim. The Saint is depicted with open arms, wearing a cape adorned with scallop shells, emblems of the pilgrimage, and a wide-brimmed hat. The movement of the body and the expression of the face reflect both walking and spiritual elevation. European work from the 18th century, with a beautiful patina. Height without the base: 17 cm. Note an old restoration at the feet (breaks properly glued back together, visible in the photos). CITES certificate issued in 2023.
