"Clément Quinton (1851-1920) Painting The Return From The Fields At Twilight"
Beautiful countryside landscape featuring two peasants returning from the fields with their horses at dusk, painted on a parquet-covered wooden panel. This scene of country life, which our artist praised throughout his life, exudes calm and serenity, a contrast to the exhausting day the peasants appear to have had. This impression is further accentuated by the calming sky at the end of the day. The painting is highlighted by its stuccoed and gilded wooden frame decorated with palmettes and laurel, typical of the end of the 19th century. Signed "Cl Quinton" lower left. Dimensions: 26.5 cm x 41 cm painting 38 cm x 51 cm with its frame Very good condition. A retrospective of the works of Clément Quinton and his son Edmond, painter like his father, took place from October 9, 2004 to January 9, 2005 at the Museum of the city of Saint-Maur in Val-de-Marne where the father and son lived.
