"Victor Vincelet 1839-1871 Floral Composition"
Large floral composition Original oil on canvas Signed lower right VINCELET Dimensions: 106 X 70 cm and 134 X 96 cm with frame French painter from Puy-de-Dôme, Victor VINCELET was born into a family of food merchants. He went to Paris to study painting with Antoine Vollon, a Lyonnais painter specializing in still lifes, and Didier Alphonse L'Huillier. Despite a relatively short life, he exhibited at the Salon and was very successful with many fans of floral paintings. The painter offers us a large floral composition, magnificent peonies and wallflowers are presented in a porcelain jardiniere decorated with gilded bronzes, very fashionable in the 19th century. The brightest colors contrast with the whiteness of the peonies, illuminating the dark background of the painting. Another charming little bouquet of roses also illuminates this large still life.
