Florentine hardstone mosaic plaque with lily of the valley and forget-me-not in turquoise, mid-19th century

Hardstone mosaic on black slate, with inlays of turquoise and pietra paesina. Set on a base of antique yellow marble with twisted metal edging.

Romantic composition depicting a bouquet of lily of the valley and a small forget-me-not flower in turquoise, with green leaves carved from pietra paesina, a decorative stone found in the bed of the Arno river. The piece is a fine example of Florentine craftsmanship in hardstone mosaics, produced in the first half of the 19th century.
Typical of the artistic souvenirs purchased by Grand Tour travellers in Florence, renowned for its refined tradition of hardstone work.
Condition:
Good overall condition, with no visible losses. Light patina consistent with age.
