"Oil On Panel, 19th Century "
This 19th-century oil on wood is in the tradition of the Barbizon school. The composition depicts a bucolic landscape, dominated by large, leafy trees with dense foliage and a meadow enlivened by the presence of two cows peacefully settled near a pond. In the background, a solitary figure, probably a shepherd or a walker, accentuates the feeling of calm and intimacy specific to the Barbizon school. The palette is composed of deep greens, browns and touches of colorful flowers in the foreground, contrasting with a blue sky dotted with light clouds. The brushstroke is fluid and expressive, typical of the Barbizon painters who favored working outdoors and the sensitive representation of light and atmosphere. The antique patinated giltwood frame harmoniously completes the whole. Dimensions: 50cm x 35cm with frame.
