MAILLAUD Fernand Born on December 12th, 1862 / Death on August 30th, 1948 Painter of landscapes, decorator. After a peasant childhood, Fernand Maillaud joins in Paris in Humbert's studios and Wallet. From 1891 Fernand MAILLAUD exposes to the Show within the synthetic group formed by Guauguin. His landscapes of childhood miss him , then he spends his summers at Fresselines in the Creuse by painting daily scenes and works of fields. To live Fernand MAILLAUD make furniture, his wife of the embroidery, what gives them the idea to create a workshop to Issoudin; their tapestries will be exposed to the Show. But Fernand MAILLAUD's big passion remains the nature and the rural world. He uses an impressionistic technique retaining that the main part, and painted the traditional themes of the ground, the fairs, the markets, the events of every day in their rustic simplicity. In 1924 Fernand MAILLAUD settles in Gueret, visits the Creuse and the CorrËze, but spends his winters in Provence, visits Spain, Algeria, Morocco where from he brings back landscapes where Bedouin look like by their attitudes the farmers of the Creuse. Fernand MAILLAUD exhibited to the various shows, at Georges Petit, Durand-Ruel, Bernheim Jeune, Devambez, and participates in several big international exhibitions . In spite of his successes Fernand MAILLAUD will always remain the painter of his country which he exploits with love.
