Galien Laloue was born in Montmartre in 1854. He was a student of Léon Germain Pelouse (1838-1891), a painter of the Barbizon School, who influenced him but did not belong to it. In order to circumvent his exclusive contract with his dealer, he used the following pseudonyms: Léon Dupuy, Eugène Dupuy, Juliany, Eugène Galiany, Jacques Liévin, Eugène Lemaitre, Maurice Lenoir, Dumoutier and A. Languinais. This landscape is signed J. Lievin, one of his many pseudonyms. It is well highlighted by a gilded frame. Dimensions of the canvas alone 33 x 46 cm.
