"Officer's Saber With Battle Guard"
Line cavalry officer's saber, known as "battle guard" characterized by its five-branched guard with chape cover, supporting an openwork motif in the shape of a scallop shell. Black leather grip elegantly filigree with double twisted wires surrounded by single wires. Octagonal cap with a short tang cut in an accolade.
Slightly curved Solingen blade, in its polish, with double hollow sides, blued and gilded in the third.
Black leather scabbard with three brass fittings, decorated with lines, iron dart.
This weapon may have belonged to a dragoon or cuirassier officer.
