"The Seller At His Stall: 18th Century Oil Painting."
The young sausage seller. Oil on canvas from the 18th century or late 17th century. Genre scene possibly from the Spanish school with Flemish influence inspired by artists such as David Teniers the Younger, Carracci, Velázquez, Goya... This "bambochade or bodegón" shows us a scene from the daily life of a young merchant who weighs and offers sausage for sale on his stall. We think we recognize a sausage with pieces of meat, traditional from the Barcelona region. This "salchichón" 50/60 cm long with a diameter of 7/8 cm reminds us of the 2 pieces represented in the painting. The seller holds in his right hand a long carving knife decorated with a golden miter and a handle that we can guess is finely worked. The young boy is wearing a wide-brimmed hat. He is dressed in a white shirt with puffed sleeves covered with a torn red doublet. The scene is enriched with a rustic wooden table, a Roman scale and its tray. Woven canvas with an old re-coating. Good general condition with very thick old varnish and darkened pigment colors. No signature. Modern frame.
Dimensions without frame: 75 x 61 cm.
