"Steam Engine Model, Scientific Instrument, 19th Century"
A 19th-century educational model of an atmospheric steam engine, made of copper, brass, and cast iron. On the left, the riveted vertical boiler is fitted with a pressure gauge and valve mechanism. On the right, the engine is mounted on a wooden base and includes a cast iron flywheel, a Watt-type ball governor, and a set of connecting rods and pistons illustrating the cyclic operation of the engine.
Used for scientific and educational purposes, this set demonstrated the fundamental principles of converting thermal energy into mechanical energy during the Industrial Revolution. The level of detail and precision of the parts indicate quality workmanship, probably intended for a technical educational institution or a cabinet of curiosities.
