"Small Silver And Onyx Clock In Its Leather Case"
Solid silver desk clock with onyx base. The dial with Roman numerals and serpent-shaped hands is carried by two putti emerging from the clouds. A third putti, revealing the dial, illuminates the hours with a torch. The putti are in the round and numerous decorative motifs such as garlands of roses, quivers and clouds are finely chiseled. The clock rests on an onyx base enhanced with silver decorative motifs and ending in four feet. The table clock is presented in a leather case enhanced with gold and marked with two coats of arms with fleurs-de-lis. This work is characteristic of the Louis XVI style which developed in the second half of the 19th century. Work from the second half of the 19th century.
