Object description :

"Pair Of Monogrammed Gouaches, End Of The 18th Century"
Animated scenes of classical landscapes.
Pair of gouaches on paper from the end of the 18th century or from the beginning of the 19th century.
Charming pair of large gouaches representing two compositions typical of the classical taste of the 18th century. These scenes elegantly combine idealized landscapes, ancient ruins and genre scenes animated by picturesque characters.
The first gouache illustrates a pastoral scene with figures, a horseman, shepherds and an elegant monument decorated with a statue, all integrated into a green landscape dominated by an ancient temple in ruins. It is signed lower left with the monogram RPM
The second gouache offers a marine scene, with a lively view of boats and sailors, punctuated by figures conversing on the rocks or embarking. In the background, a classical landscape with romantic ruins dominates the scene.
Work of great finesse, characteristic of the Roman or Neapolitan school around 1770-1790, with colors that have remained very fresh, a lively sky and a detailed rendering of the figures.
Old frames in gilded wood with original reversed profile.
Frame 45x61 cm

È monogrammata RPM in basso a sinistra.
Cornici antiche originali in legno dorato a profilo rovesciato.
Misure con cornice: 45 x 61 cm.
