"Portrait In Red Chalk Of The Revolutionary St Just, 18th Century, By Christohe Guérin."
Interesting red chalk portrait of the revolutionary Louis Antoine de St Just, dated 1793, deposited at the National Library. This very accomplished sketch was used to create the engraved portrait, which is in the National Library's collection. St Just is represented half-length, in profile, facing right. He is young (he will die at 27 years old), this portrait was made a year before his death. He wears large earrings, as was the fashion of the time. A wide tie surrounds his neck. His rather long hair follows the canons of this time. He displays a slight smile, he is still at the height of his glory. Sheet in very good condition, unrestored.
