Fragment of an altarpiece in carved and gilded wood, composed of a polygonal base with carved facades with simple rectangular moldings, a central body decorated with architectural elements (four Solomonic columns with leafy shafts, supporting volutes with vegetal elements, "C" crosspieces, smooth moldings, pilasters, flowers, oval bands, etc.), and a finishing area formed by a smooth band that moves along the lines of the rest of the piece and has four pyramidal finials (one above each column space). It houses a sculpture of the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus in her arms, with the faces, hands, and feet in light tones and the clothes in golden and dark tones. The Solomonic Column was an element already known in the Renaissance (and before) that was popularized in art, largely thanks to the Baldachin of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican by Gian Lorenzo Bernini (1624-1633), where it is presented with vine leaves.
