Norman Foster is a British architect born in 1935 in Manchester. He studied architecture and urban planning there before going to the United States to obtain a master's degree in architecture at Yale University. The Reliance factories project, of so-called "high-tech" architecture, will allow him to become known. Since then, he has created the Foster and Rogers firm in the 2010s, comprising more than 500 collaborators and employees with agencies in London, Berlin and Hong Kong. He notably designs furniture for companies such as the Nomos range for the Tecno brand in Italy. Today, many Tecno products are featured in collections around the world such as in New York, the MoMA in San Francisco, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Neue Sammlung in Munich, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Montreal and the Triennale Milano. In the 1980s, Tecno began to employ outside designers to produce furniture designs. Key creations include Norman Foster's for Nomos Tables (1986), Luca Scacchetti's for Ianus Desk and Storage System (1988), Emilio Ambasz's for Qualis Chairs (1991), Piero Lissoni's for Asymmetrical System (2006), Rodolfo Dordoni's for PONS D011 Sofa and Table System (2011), Monica Förster's for Archipelago D502 Seating System (2012), and Luca Scacchetti Vara T503 Tables and Storage System (2013). Tecno's success lies in its long-term partnerships with leading architects, who have commissioned Tecno to provide tailor-made solutions for iconic buildings, such as Foster + Partner's renovation of the British Museum in London and Jean Nouvel's Agbar Tower in Barcelona.
