"Alphonse Rey (1864-1936), Boats In Port"
Oil on canvas dated 1890, depicting boats in the Port. Painting signed "A.Rey" Alphonse Rey (1864-1936) was a French painter and watercolorist, a student of Félix Ziem. He specialized in painting landscapes of the Provençal countryside, the shores of the Mediterranean and made annual trips to Algeria, drawing inspiration from these places for his works. Rey notably produced watercolors such as "Ships in the harbor of Algiers" and "The Pointe des cyprès à Martigues". He was appointed curator of the Ziem Museum in Martigues and exhibited his works at the Salon des Artistes français, of which he became a member. Good general condition, small tear to report on one of the sails. Dimensions: 32.5 / 24.5 cm
