His production was limited and is characterized by a calm and intimate feeling and the effective use of varnish. He also produced a number of works on the theme of childhood. The painting that I am offering you for sale is obviously one of them. He also painted a remarkable portrait of the French writer and critic Paul Léautaud. Simon Simon-Auguste was born in Marseille on April 20, 1909, he studied in the Phocaean city and in 1931 he won the Stanilas-Torrent prize at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. A few years later he moved to Paris and presented his work at the Salon d'Automne, the Salons des Peintres Témoins de Leur Temps and other major exhibitions. His works can be found in almost all the books of painters who witnessed their time. He is considered by some art critics as a great master of so-called intimate painting. An art of silence and meditation, even of reverie, whose delicacy is very seductive.
