"Late 19th Century Painting With Horses “at Rest” By Francesca Stuart Sindici "
A beautiful
oil painting on canvas of considerable size, framed in an elegant carved and
gilded wooden frame. The work, entitled “At Rest”, was created by the artist
Francesca Stuart Sindici (Madrid 1858 - Rome 1929), whose signature “Sindici”,
her husband’s acquired surname, is visible at the bottom right. The painter
Francesca Stuart Sindici was and is renowned for her equestrian paintings
depicting cavalry and horses, producing mainly miniatures. During her career,
she created only two large-format works, both preserved in Italy: a painting
currently exhibited at the Quirinale in the Salone dei Corazzieri and this
extraordinary painting, which further increases its value. The work portrays
two horses “at rest” precisely, in a naturalistic context. The meticulous
attention to detail in the representation of the horses, one in profile and the
other from behind, is evident, as is the exceptional technical mastery of the
artist. This work, characterized by a significant history and refined elegance,
is able to enrich any environment with taste and class. Its production is
finally ascribed around the end of the 19th century.
