18th Century Provençal Walnut Chest Of Drawers

Beautiful Provençal chest of drawers known as "sauteuse" in walnut wood. This model with curved front and sides opens with two drawers decorated with scrolls, acanthus, foliage motifs, and olive branches. A projecting molding highlights the frames of the drawers and sides. The rounded, molded and carved uprights extend into a curved foot carved at the base of an acanthus leaf. The openwork bottom crosspiece is nicely decorated with a bouquet of roses, a bow and olive branches. The walnut top is molded with an ogee. Ornamentation of bronzes, keyholes and handles. Later locks. Two small old restorations on a rear corner of the top and on the base of a rear foot.
