Sand cast, quite light, ink number from an old collection.
I took some opinions from colleagues with great expertise, it could be a period edition circa cabinet of medals, during the reign of Louis XIV.
I have not found any bust of the famous monk that resembles it in documentation.
On the other hand, it is obvious that a similar work could have influenced the Bronze bust of Girolamo Savonarola by the Italian sculptor Giovanni Duprè (1873) placed in Savonarola's cell in convent. (Museo Nazionale di San Marco), in Florence, Tuscany, (see last photo)
Good condition, nose rubbed.
Provenance: Niçoise collection of early period.
17.5cm x 9.5cm x 6cm, weight: 0.7kg.
